Dog Licenses

Dog Licensing

All dogs housed in the State of Maine must be licensed in the town that they are kept by their owner/keeper.

Requirements for licensing include a current rabies certificate and if the dog has been spayed or neutered, documentation from a veterinarian proving this.

Dog licenses are issued by the calendar year expiring December 31st. The renewal licenses become available just prior the the New Year in mid October. Once a dog has an established license with the Town, his/her license must be renewed annually. If the license is not renewed by January 31st a late fee of $25.00 will be assessed. If you would like to receive a license renewal reminder by email please contact the Town Office @ (207) 397-4011 with your email address.

For further information please contact the Town Office @ (207) 397-4011.

The Town Office is happy to announce that the Town of Rome is now participating in On-Line Dog Licensing through InforMe.

InforMe will verify rabies information and notify us that your dog has been registered on-line and the Town office will send your license and tag in the mail. The Town office wanted to add this online option as another convenience for Rome residents.
